Meet your driver at your downtown Beijing hotel at around 08:00 and travel about 2.5 hours to Gubei Water Town in Miyun County. The town sits beside waterways below Simatai, with traditional-style houses, stone streets and long lanes framed by the surrounding mountains.

Continue to the Simatai Great Wall, a Ming-dynasty section that retains much of its original character. The wall follows steep terrain through 20 watchtowers, including Wangjing Tower at an altitude of 1,000 meters. UNESCO has described Simatai as the “Original Great Wall,” and the route is known for its distinctive, demanding mountain setting.

Spend about four hours across both areas, then drive approximately 2.5 hours back to central Beijing and return to your hotel.
