Begin at Tian'anmen Square, a central landmark associated with major events in modern Chinese history. Stop outside The National Centre, known locally as “The Egg,” then walk to the Forbidden City and spend more than 2 hours exploring its imperial halls and gardens.
Lunch is served at a local Indian restaurant.
Continue to the Temple of Heaven, where emperors once held ceremonies and prayed for successful harvests. The complex remains one of Beijing's clearest examples of traditional ceremonial architecture.

Drive about 1 hour from central Beijing to Juyongguan Great Wall,. This fortified mountain pass entered the World Heritage list in 1987 and was counted among Beijing's celebrated landscapes around 800 years ago. Walk on the wall and take in the surrounding ridges.
An à la carte lunch is arranged at a selected local restaurant near the Great Wall.
Return to central Beijing and stop for about 0.5 hour outside the Bird Nest and Water Cube, both built for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Visit the National Museum of China, whose more than 120 million collection pieces and 48 exhibition halls introduce Chinese history and culture, . The museum closes on Monday; on Mondays, take a short walk through a Hutong alley instead.

Check out and visit the Summer Palace, China's largest well-preserved imperial garden. See Longevity Hill and Kunming Lake, choose an optional boat trip, and walk along the Long Corridor beneath its painted beams.
Lunch is arranged at a nearby Indian restaurant. Transfer to Beijing West Railway Station and travel to Xi'an by high-speed train in a 2nd class seat for about 5 hours. Meet your Xi'an guide at the station and continue to the hotel.

Summer Palace

Drive toward the Terracotta Warriors, stopping at a pottery workshop to see how miniature figures are made and try making one. At the archaeological site, explore the life-size soldiers, horses and chariots arranged in battle formation.
Return to central Xi'an for a walk around the North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda and watch the north-plaza fountain show when available. Lunch is served at a nearby Indian restaurant.
Continue to the Ancient City Wall, in the afternoon. Bicycle rental is optional. If weather prevents the wall visit, the itinerary substitutes the Bell Tower.
Return to the hotel after the day's sightseeing. Ask your guide about optional evening entertainment such as the Tang Dynasty Show.
Good to Know:
1. Bike-riding on the ancient city wall is permitted only for children over 10 years old or taller than 1.4 meters (4.6 feet). Younger children may walk or take a golf cart instead.

Terracotta Warriors

Visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, a well-preserved Tang-dynasty Buddhist site, and watch a traditional shadow play. Continue through Jianfu Temple and Xi'an Museum, then have lunch at an Indian restaurant before transferring to the airport.
Fly from Xi'an to Guilin, a main gateway to southern China's karst scenery. Transfer to the hotel after arrival.

Cruise down the Li River to Yangshuo, passing valleys, bamboo groves and karst formations. Walk along West Street after disembarkation, then return to Guilin by expressway with views of the Yangshuo Ten-mile Gallery along the way.

After breakfast and check-out, spend about 1 hour at Reed Flute Cave among its colored stalactites and stalagmites. Following lunch, transfer to Guilin airport and fly to Shanghai, where your local hotel transfer is arranged.

Begin below The Oriental Pearl TV Tower at the Shanghai City History Museum , formerly the Shanghai Wax Museum, and learn about the city's development. Take the elevator to the tower's second sphere for a city view, then drive through Lujiazui to see Pudong's skyline.
Return to the Bund for views across the Huangpu River toward the Oriental Pearl TV Tower and surrounding high-rises. Lunch is served at a local Indian restaurant.
After lunch, visit Yuyuan Garden, a classical garden in central Shanghai. Continue through nearby Shanghai Old Street and Nanjing Road, one of the city's earliest commercial streets.
Return to the hotel. Ask about an optional evening Acrobatic Show, including the ERA production, if you would like an additional activity.
