Hiking along Kanas Lake

Very lucky, I had a chance to have a long trip to Xinjiang Province, China. It was a luxurious wish for me to visit to Xinjiang before the trip. I thought that I might not have a chance to visit this wonderland to travel this beautiful land in the northwest of China. I was so excited when I got the chance to travel to this beautiful place. I made a detailed road book and outdoor captures before I went there. And I listed all the things I wanted to see and food I want to try. The most impressive thing in my trip is hiking along Kanas Lake. The lake looked so amazing. I thought that using any beautiful adjective to describe this lake was just not enough. 

We went there in September, which was one of the best months to visit there. First, we took flight from Xian to Urumqi. We spent one day to visit some famous attractions in Urumqi like Heavely Lake (Tianchi), Erdaoqiao Grand Bazaar. The next day, we took flight to Kana. It take about one hour by air from Urumqi to Kanas. Then we went diret to Kanas Lake Scenic Area from the airport after we got off the plane. 

Kanas is in Mongolian, meaning “beautiful, rich, and mysterious”. Kanas Lake is located in the north of Burqin County, 150 kilometers away from the town. The lake has an elevation of 1,374 meters, with an area of 44.78 square kilometers. Kanas Lake is known as “the most beautiful lakes in the world”. Moon Bay is a part of Kanas Lake Scenic Area. It is located approximately 1 km upstream of the Wolong Bay. It is an extension of the Wolong River District. The beautiful quiet Moon Bay will change with the water in Kanas Lake. It is like a jewel embedded in the Kanas Lake. The Moon Bay runs circuitously through the valley. The water level is flat as a mirror. It is like a footprint along Kanas Lake, which is strange but fantastic. The Moon Bay is known locally as “footprints of fairy”. Kanas Lake here drew a graceful arc, like a curved moon embed in this verdant forest of the canyon. Many visitors are intoxicated in this beautiful scenery. It also offers countless number of wonderful pictures for photography enthusiasts.

If you wanted to witness the beautiful Kanas Lake as much as you can, you must spend some time to hike along the lake. We started the walking from the entrance of the gate of Kanas Scenic Area. After one-hour walk, we arrived at the Moon Bay. For we got there in September in autumn, the tree in this area had turned red or yellow, while the color of the water in the lake looks light blue. The different colors interweaving made the scenery looks extremely beautiful. It was a feast for our eyes. We spent 5 hours to walk in the scenic area to appreciate the fantastic beautiful. We walked out of the Kanas Lake Scenic Area before the sunrise. What we saw in the day well explained the beauty of Xinjiang. It was a really nice trip, although it was a little tired after a whole-day walking. 

Tips in visiting in Xinajing
Xinjiang is a gathering area for a variety of ethnic minority with a strong religion religious belief, especially Islamism. Remember that Muslims do not eat pork, which is their biggest taboos in life, absolutely not offended. You should show your respect to their customs.
