In September, 2005, to protect Guangzhou – Diqing – Lhasa route, China Southern Airlines added the new type – B6200, Airbus A31. As the airport is a high altitude airport (elevation 3280 m), it has always been very particular on requirments of the aircraft types. Only a few aircrafts types are suitable for flying this route.
