Ngari Gunsa Airport is located southwest of the Shiquan Town in Ngari Prefecture. The airport covers an area of 3,613 acres of the total planning. The length of airport's runway is 4,500 meters with a width of 45 meters on both sides of the road, and the width of the shoulder on both sides is 7.5 m, with a total width of 60 meters. The flight zone's grade level is 4D. Terminal building area is about 3900 square meters and was opened to traffic 2010, which will a major air route out of Tibet following the Lhasa Gongga Airport, Chamdo Bangda Airport, Nyingchi Milin Airport.

Ngari Gunsa Airport is located at the valley of Geerzangbu River, with altitude of 4,274 meter, just lower than Chamdo Bangda Airport with the elevation of 4334 meters and Sichuan Kangding Airport with altitude of 4280 meters. The length of the Airport runway is 4,500 m, with total width of 60 m (including both sides of the road shoulder), to meet the landing requirements Airbus A319 and other highland aircrafts. The terminal building area is about 3900 square meters, designed for annual passenger throughput of 120,000 passengers. Nagri Gunsa Airport was formally put into operation on July 1, 2010.
Construction of Ngari Gunsa Airport
In 2006, Ngari Gunsa Airport starts planning.
In 2007, the airport began the construction.
By the end of 2008, the runway, terminal building, staff apartment building and communal facilities were all completed.
On Jan. 13, 2010, Ngari Terminal Building preparatory group was set up.
On Mar. 27, 2010, The Civil Aviation Administration of Southwest China was officially set up.

On July 1, 2010, Ngari Gunsa Airport was officially opened to traffic.
