Tibet has hospitals and departments that practise Tibetan medicine at autonomous-region, prefecture, county and other institutional levels. The directory below is retained as a historical planning reference because it helps show the geographic spread of Sowa Rigpa services. It must not be treated as a current emergency directory. Hospital names, administrative divisions, addresses, telephone numbers, opening arrangements and services can change, and some English transliterations in older records may no longer match current map labels.

Before traveling, verify a facility through its current official hospital or local health-authority channel. Confirm the exact Chinese name, street address, appointment process, department, language support and whether foreign visitors can register with a passport. Do not travel to a distant county solely on the basis of an old phone number. For an emergency—especially severe breathlessness at rest, confusion, loss of coordination, blue lips, fainting, chest pain, signs of stroke, serious injury or uncontrolled bleeding—seek urgent conventional medical care and local emergency assistance. Do not wait for a specialist traditional-medicine appointment. High-altitude illness can worsen quickly, and descent or oxygen may be part of medical management; self-treatment with herbs is not a reliable substitute for assessment. Travelers with heart, lung, blood or other significant conditions should discuss altitude plans with an appropriate clinician before departure.

Carry travel insurance that covers the planned altitude and activities, plus copies of prescriptions, allergies, diagnoses and an emergency contact. Keep essential medicines in original labelled packaging and bring enough for likely delays.
