While speaking of the land of idyllic beauty, we always can not help think of Tao Yuanming ‘s “Peach Blossom Spring”. After so many years, I have always believed that such place does not exist, however, I really heard of such place during my Guilin Tour. Hence, in spite of the rain, I drove over forty kilometers from Guilin to the so-called “land of idyllic beauty” (Shi Wai Tao Yuan) in Yangshuo County. Stepping into the scenic region, what appeared in front of me was a beautiful rural scenery. Looking far, the towering and green mountains, the mist from the village and trees, the terraced rice paddies, the vertical and horizontal houses, just like the artistic conception of the “Peach Blossom Spring” described by Tao Yuanming.
Along with the beautiful scenery, I rafted on the lake. Along my way, the misty rain, blowing breeze, rippling streams, the far mountains, houses, fertile land, as if for a pastoral landscape painting, making tourists relaxed and happy. Unconsciously, I came to a cave where as if there was a light; which was just like the description in “Peach Blossom Spring”, making me exceptionally excited. Through the cave, the blooming green grass, fallen flowers, fertile farmland, making me enjoy myself so much as to forget to leave. Strolling on them, I saw people of all ages and both sexes from Yao, Zhuang, Miao, Dong, and other national minorities live in harmony, enjoyably and leisurely.
Bypassing a bamboo forest, the boat came to an open lake. With the misty rain, the landscape of Guilin looked even more charming and moving. The songs and dance here were appealing; men and women of all nationalities here were honest. Stood on the bow of the boat, looking back to the picturesque paradise, I could not help sigh with emotion.
