Arrive in Guangzhou, meet your local representative at the airport and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is free to settle in. As a historic port and major South China commercial center, Guangzhou provides the starting point for this regional cultural journey.

Evening Optional activity: Join the 70-minute Pearl River night cruise for views of illuminated historic buildings and modern towers along the waterfront, including Canton Tower.

After breakfast, visit Huacheng Square, Guangzhou's contemporary central square, for views towardGuangzhou Tower, one of the city's principal modern landmarks. A traditional Cantonese lunch is arranged at a local restaurant.

Continue to the Guangdong Provincial Museum for an introduction to Lingnan art and regional collections. Then visit Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Memorial Hall on the former site of his presidential office, south of Yuexiu Hill.

Yuexiu Park

Visit the Temple of Chen Family, also known as Chen Clan Academy. Built between 1890 and 1894, its detailed decoration is an important example of Lingnan architecture.

Spend time independently along Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street, where you can browse shops and sample Guangzhou snacks.

Return to the hotel at the end of the city tour.

Take the morning high-speed train to Chaozhou , a journey of about 3 hours. Your local guide will meet you at Chaoshan Railway Station or Jieyang Chaoshan International Airport and accompany you to the hotel. Chaozhou is known for porcelain, embroidery and its role in the development of Chaoshan culture.

Walk through Chaozhou Old Town, visiting the 650-year-old Guangji City Gate Tower and historic Guangji Bridge. Pause at Zaiyang Tea House to enjoy a local tea break for authentic Chaoshan tea and local music, then continue through Taiping Road, Jiadi Alley and the century-old archway street to observe traditional residences, daily life and local snacks.

An authentic Chaoshan satay beef hot pot is arranged for dinner. If available, you may also see the evening lights along both riverbanks and the light-and-shadow show at Guangji Bridge before returning to the hotel.

After breakfast and check-out, visit Hanwen Shrine, dedicated to the poet Han Yu. Continue to the Chaozhou Folk Museum for an introduction to Chaozhou ancestry and folk traditions. At midday, a brined whole-goose banquet is arranged at a well-known local restaurant.

After the Chaozhou lunch, visit the former residence of Chen Cihong, often described as a leading overseas-Chinese residence in Lingnan. The 6,861-square-meter complex combines Chinese and Western architectural influences with traditional Chaoshan design.

Drive about 40 minutes to Shantou, a coastal city historically regarded as an important gateway to eastern Guangdong and South China.

Devote the day to Shantou's culture, waterfront scenery and food traditions.

After breakfast, head to Shantou Square Ferry Terminal and take the ferry for views across Shantou Bay. Continue to Queshi Scenic Area, and ride the cable car to a high viewpoint overlooking the city.

Visit the Chaoshan Culture Expo Center, a 56,500-square-meter landmark facing Shantou Bay and the central building of the Chaoshan History and Culture Expo Park. On the return route, pass through the Shantou Bay Tunnel, a large-diameter underwater highway tunnel built in an area of high seismic intensity.

A Chao-style abalone feast is arranged for lunch at a local restaurant.

After lunch, visit Tuo Cheng Small Park in the historic center of Shantou. See landmarks such as Nansheng Department Store and Shantou Old Post Office, then enter the first floor of the European-style postal building completed in 1922.

Continue on foot to Zhengbang Road, a Chaoshan food street known for long-established local dishes and snacks.
