Arrive in Chengdu and meet your local guide at the airport or railway station. Transfer by private vehicle to the reserved hotel, complete check-in and keep the rest of the day free.

Tips for today:

1. Rest at the hotel to recover from the journey, especially when Chengdu is your first arrival point in China.
2. If needed, exchange money at the airport, hotel or a local bank with help from your guide, or withdraw Chinese yuan from an ATM.

Drive approximately 1.5 hours to Mt. Leshan and take the scheduled 30-minute cruise for a broad view of the Giant Buddha and mountain. Continue about one hour to Mt. Emei, check in and keep the rest of the day free.

Details in the itinerary:

1. The program uses the cruise to view the Leshan Giant Buddha. A 1-2 hour climb on Mount Leshan is possible but is not recommended in the original itinerary because it is tiring and does not provide the same overview.
2. Chengdu downtown – Mt. Leshan: 150 km, 1.5-hour driving
3. Mt. Leshan – Mt. Emei area: 41km, 1-hour driving

Leshan Giant Buddha

Explore Mount Emei, regarded as the sacred mountain of Samantabhadra. Visit Baoguo Temple, then take the cable car to the Golden Summit, the mountain's highest and most important pilgrimage area. Descend after sightseeing and drive about 165 km back to Chengdu.

For independent evening time in Chengdu, Chunxi Road and Jinli Old Street are the listed suggestions.

A suggested sightseeing route in Mt. Emei:

1. Follow the scheduled route from the entrance to Baoguo Temple, take the two-hour scenic shuttle to Leidongping, walk to the cable-car station and ascend to the Golden Summit. Return by the same route after sightseeing.
2. Mt. Emei area – Chengdu downtown: 165km, 2-hour driving

Golden Submit of Mt. Emei

Accommodation: In Mount Wutai area

Take the morning flight to Taiyuan. Meet the local driver on arrival and continue approximately 3-3.5 hours to Mount Wutai, the sacred mountain associated with Manjusri. Check in and rest after the journey.

Visit Summit Bodhisattva , Xiantong Temple and Shuxiang Temple as listed, with each stop introducing a different part of Mount Wutai's Buddhist heritage.

1. Chengdu downtown – Chengdu airport: 14km, 30 minutes
2. Taiyuan airport – Mount Wutai: 240km, 3-3.5 hours driving

Mount Wutai

Begin at the Hall of Manjusri on the mountain associated with Manjusri, then continue to Wuye Temple and the royal monastery known as Summit Bodhisattva.

From the mountain route, see the Great White Pagoda and views over Taihuai Town. Descend past wooded paths and red-and-gold temple buildings; if time permits, continue to Luohou, Xiantong and Tayuan temples.

Mount Wutai

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: In Mount Wutai area

Use the scenic shuttle bus for the five-peak route across Mount Wutai: Wanghai Peak, Guanyue Peak, Jinxiu Peak, Yedou Peak and Cuiyan Peak, including the listed temples and high-elevation viewpoints.

This five-peak pilgrimage is known as Dachaotai, or Grand Worship, and is undertaken as an expression of respect and sincerity in Buddhist practice.

Return to the hotel by shuttle bus after the full-day route.

Note: The five-peak route takes a full day and can be physically demanding. If this program does not suit your condition, please advise us in advance so the itinerary can be adjusted. 

Mount Wutai

Accommodation: In Mount Jiuhua area

Leave Mount Wutai and transfer to Taiyuan for the high-speed train to Hefei. Meet the driver at Hefei Railway Station and continue by private transfer to the Mount Jiuhua area for check-in and rest.

1. Mount Wutai – Taiyuan High Speed Train Station: 200km, 2.5 hours driving
2. Hefei High Speed Train Staion – Mount Jiuhua: 230km, 3 hours driving

Mount Jiuhua

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: In Mount Jiuhua area

Take the shuttle bus to Jiuhua Street Scenic Area, where important sites include Huacheng Temple, Diyuan Temple and the Five Hundred Arhats Hall. The area also serves as a practical base for exploring the mountain.

After lunch, follow the stone path to Incarnation Hall, a shrine associated with Ksitigarbha. Take the cable car to Longevity Palace, then descend and return to the hotel.

Jiuhua Mountain

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: In Mount Jiuhua area

Explore Minyuan Scenic Area, then take the cable car to Tiantai Peak and visit Tiantai Temple. The route combines a strong Buddhist setting with views across Mount Jiuhua before the cable-car descent around noon.

After lunch, continue to Dayuan Culture Theme Park for an introduction to Ksitigarbha culture and the listed 99-meter bronze statue. Return to the hotel afterwards.

Mount Jiuhua

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
Accommodation: In Mount Putuo area

Check out and transfer to Chizhou Railway Station for the high-speed train to Hangzhou. Meet the driver on arrival and continue by road to Zhujiajian Pier, then take the ferry to Mount Putuoshan, associated with Avalokitesvara.

Meet the local guide at the pier and transfer to the island hotel. Keep the remaining time free to explore independently.

Lunch is served at a local restaurant during the transfer route.

1. Chizhou – Hangzhou by the hi-speed rail: 2 hours and 40 minutes journey
2. Hangzhou – Zhujiajian Pier by the private transfer: 240km, 3.5 hours

Mount Putuo

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Spend a full day exploring Mount Putuo, where temples, nunneries and monasteries sit within the island's coastal mountain setting.

Begin at Huiji Temple, then walk down Xiangyun Road to Fayu Temple and see its Jade Buddhist Hall.

After lunch, visit Puji Temple and the Purple Bamboo Forest, then continue to the Guanyin (Goddess of Mercy) & Giant Avalokitesvara Buddha Statue, the listed 33-meter golden statue.

Return to the hotel after sightseeing and keep the evening free for your own plans.

Fayu Temple, Putuo Mountain

Check out after breakfast, take the ferry to Zhujiajian Pier and meet the driver for the direct transfer to Shanghai Pudong International Airport.

The road journey from Zhujiajian Pier to Shanghai Pudong International Airport covers approximately 320 km and takes about four hours.
