Dear Janet,

I just had a wonderful birthday surprise with our lunch today. Thanks for helping arrange the cake.
Very sad to be leaving Tibet tomorrow. The group we joined were all very friendly and we really enjoyed their company.
To my amazement Edith coped with all the steps at the Potala Palace (426?) largely because Tensing made sure that we did everything at the correct pace. He is a very understanding and knowledgeable guide.
I attach a couple of pictures; one of our group at Potala (Edith and I 2nd and 3rd from left on back row) and the view from our hotel room at night (quality not good but I will try again tonight).

What a view!

My wife had travelled to China before but it was my first time. We had a limit of 2 weeks and Yun Sky Travel's 13-day Dreamy Plateau ticked the box for duration and interesting stops, including Beijing, Xian (Terracota Army), Lhasa (Tibet), Chengdu (pandas!) and Shanghai.
This was a private tour, that is to say that for each destination we were met by a guide, driver and car at each arrival airport/station and they were ours exclusively for the duration of our stay in that location.
The tour was well organised by Janet Chan at YUNSKY and we had the option of hooking up with a small group tour for the Tibet stop and saving about $200 on the overall cost, which we elected to do.
The guides were all knowledgeable and very good English speakers. Drivers seemed to err on the side of safety (and that is fine by me!) and cars were all in excellent condition.
As mentioned, this is a private tour so, although there is only 2 or 3 days per location, with a dedicated guide and car, a lot can be fitted into that time.
In summary, the tour delivered what we wanted. I may never get back to China but I have seen as many of the sights I could have hoped for in the time I had available. And did so in some comfort.
If this tour features the sights that you want to see and it fits your budget I would thoroughly recommend it.
