Giant panda exhibits outside China operate through changing institutional agreements. Animals return, new pairs arrive and exhibits can pause, so a dated resident list is unsafe for trip planning. This guide separates current and historical locations; always confirm the latest status and viewing rules on the zoo's official website. Our giant panda hub explains China-based alternatives.
The institutions below also differ in setting: some are city zoos, some are destination parks, and none can guarantee an active panda at a particular hour.

Zoo context : Schönbrunn Zoo occupies part of the historic palace grounds and is widely recognized as the world's oldest continuously operating zoo. A panda visit can be combined with the palace complex, but each attraction needs its own timing.
Current panda context : Vienna began a new phase with Lan Yun and He Feng, who arrived in 2025.
Lan Yun
and He Feng live in separate facilities according to the zoo's current information, reflecting the species' generally solitary behavior.
Vienna's earlier breeding history with Yang Yang and Long Hui remains significant, but those names should not be presented as the current pair. Check whether timed access or construction affects the panda area.

Zoo context : Edinburgh Zoo continues as a major Scottish conservation attraction on a steep site that requires comfortable footwear and route planning.
Panda status: Tian Tian and Yang Guang returned to China in December 2023. Edinburgh currently has no giant pandas, so older travel pages advertising a panda visit are outdated.

Zoo context : Pairi Daiza is a large destination park outside Brussels with extensive themed gardens and accommodation. It usually needs a full day and advance transport planning.
Panda context :
Xing Hui
and Hao Hao formed the original pair under Belgium's cooperation program.
Their family includes Tian Bao and later twins Bao Di and Bao Mei.
Use the park's official current animal list, not only historical birth announcements.

Zoo context : Ouwehands Dierenpark is in Rhenen, not Amsterdam. The Pandasia complex uses Chinese-inspired architecture and includes indoor and outdoor spaces.
Current status must be verified close to travel because the Netherlands' original agreement and the residence of Xing Ya and Wu Wen have time limits.
: The pair produced cub Fan Xing, who later returned to China. A past birth does not confirm that the same family remains on display today. For a current comparison across the Pacific, see US panda zoos.

Zoo context : Adelaide Zoo lies close to the city center and can be included in a half- or full-day visit. The panda habitat is one part of a broader conservation zoo.
Its collection extends well beyond pandas; allow time for the full site rather than treating admission as a single-enclosure ticket.
Current panda context :
Xing Qiu
and Yi Lan arrived as Adelaide's new pair after the previous residents returned to China.
Wang Wang and Fu Ni were the earlier pair and are part of the zoo's history, not the current resident list. For Asian institutions and their equally changeable agreements, continue to panda zoos in Asia.
