About Xining: Xining is the capital city of Qinghai Province, which is the provincial center of politics, economy, culture, education, technology, transportation and commerce. The City of Xining acts as one of the major gateways to the Tibetan Plateau. It is an ancient highland city on the Yellow River which offers many scenic spots and historical sites.

Every July and August, Xining is the wind blowing gently, cool and pleasant summer resort. In July, Qinghai Lake has large tracts of canola flower in full bloom.

About Lhasa: Lhasa is the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region. It is an ancient city with a history of over 1300 years. Its unique highland plateau landscape and Tibetan culture will give you a quite wonderful impression.

Summer and autumn are the best period to visit Lhasa, especially from August to October. In the two seasons the climate is warm and humid unlike the dry and windy weather in winter and spring.

Xining – Lhasa Flights

There are two pairs of non stop flights traveling between Xining and Lhasa every day. The flihgts are operated by Tibet Airlines or Sichuan Airlines.

Flights from Xining to Lhasa take off from Xining Caojiabao Airport (XNN) at 18:55 and 09:30. It takes about 2 hours and 35 minutes to arrive at Lhasa airport.

Flights from Lhasa to Xining take off from Gonggar International Airport (SYX) at 13:00 and 11:35 am. It takes about 2 hours and 10 minutes to arrive at Xining.

As flights to Lhasa are always hot, it is suggested to book as early as you can to ensure the availability of the ticket, aslo to get a good discount.
