The destination hosted major winter competitions in the past and was used for snow events during the 2025 Asian Winter Games. For the 2025–26 winter, local reporting described 56 graded slopes and additional high-speed trains at Yabuli West; those details are useful evidence of scale and access, not a promise for the next season. It is the strongest choice here for travellers already building a northeastern winter circuit. A practical route combines Harbin city, the resort and other staffed winter attractions instead of attempting Yabuli as an improvised same-day transfer. Beginners should book the precise meeting point and school, because “Yabuli” can refer to different operating areas. Experienced skiers should check the day's open vertical, grooming and lift status rather than relying on an old maximum-drop figure. Deep cold, wind and low visibility can close exposed terrain; allow warm-up breaks, keep batteries and phones protected, and do not assume a return train will wait for a delayed shuttle. 2. Beidahu Ski Resort, Jilin

Beidahu sits in the mountains outside Jilin City and is designed for a multi-day ski stay. Its first-party site currently describes 74 trails, 80 kilometres of pistes, 13 cableways and 7 magic carpets, but these network figures should be checked against the operating map for your dates. The resort is especially useful for mixed-ability groups: learners can stay in dedicated progression zones while stronger skiers investigate longer upper-mountain terrain without changing cities.

Treat the village and mountain as one trip. Changbaishan Wanda International Resort is in Fusong County near the west side of the Changbai Mountain region. It should not be described as lying inside the core nature reserve, and a ski-resort stay is separate from a ticketed visit to the mountain scenic area. The resort's current first-party guide presents more than 30 trails, a roughly 33-kilometre network, night terrain and a winter window generally marketed from mid-November into early April. 4. Wanlong Ski Resort, Chongli, Hebei

Wanlong is one of Chongli's established mountain resorts, northwest of Beijing. Its appeal is sustained ski-focused terrain rather than an Olympic branding claim: Genting Snow Park, not Wanlong, hosted the Beijing 2022 freestyle skiing and snowboarding competitions. Recent public information describes more than 32 pistes and a vertical drop of roughly 554 metres, but the open combination varies with snowmaking, grooming, wind and training use.
For whom it works: intermediate and advanced visitors who value repeatable mountain laps, forested scenery and ski-in/ski-out convenience.
 

Beginners can still use lessons and easier areas, but should ask which base and lift avoid an unnecessary advanced descent. Arrive with a current piste map, identify the last lift back to the hotel side, and keep enough margin for changing light and temperature. “Powder” is a resort nickname, not a daily snow report; after dry or windy weather, groomed pistes may be the more realistic objective.

6. Genting Snow Park, Chongli, Hebei

Genting Resort Secret Garden—widely referred to as Genting Snow Park in the Beijing 2022 context—is in Chongli. It hosted the Olympic and Paralympic freestyle skiing and snowboarding programme, including park-and-pipe disciplines. That history is relevant, but competition features may be closed, modified or reserved; it does not mean every visitor can enter an Olympic course. From Beijing, rail can reduce the main intercity transfer, yet timetables, station transfers and resort shuttles must be joined into one plan. Nanshan is in Miyun District and is the clearest day-trip option for travellers based in Beijing. Its first-party 2025–26 overview listed 30 graded runs, separate children's learning space, terrain features, day sessions and night sessions. Those operating hours belong to that season, so use the resort's current booking channel rather than copying them into a future itinerary. Recent transport options have included driving, city shuttles and high-speed rail to Miyun followed by a short road transfer.

Its advantage is convenience, not guaranteed natural powder or the scale of a destination resort. It is well suited to a first lesson, a family snow day or a short practice session. Reserve instruction before busy weekends, confirm whether the ticket includes equipment, and budget time for fitting boots and returning rentals. 8. Thaiwoo Ski Resort, Chongli, Hebei
 

Thaiwoo is an integrated alpine village in Chongli with hotels, restaurants, ski school, rentals and lift access arranged around a walkable base. Some published descriptions refer to a planned 200-run masterplan, but that is not the same as terrain operating today. The useful question is which lifts and pistes are operating during your stay, and whether those runs match your group's ability.

For mixed parties, Thaiwoo's village format reduces friction: non-skiers can use dining and leisure facilities while skiers meet at an obvious base.
 

Beginners should reserve the lesson language and meeting point, then practise on the marked learning terrain before riding a lift that serves harder pistes. Intermediate skiers can compare several piste aspects and gradients when the network is open. Advanced riders should read the live grooming and closure report instead of treating marketing percentages, future phases or the steepest advertised pitch as a complete difficulty measure.
 

Rail access makes Chongli easier to combine with Beijing, but the train is only the trunk journey. 9. Silk Road International Ski Resort, Xinjiang

Silk Road International Ski Resort is in Shuixigou in the Nanshan area south of Urumqi, against the Tianshan foothills. Xinjiang's culture and tourism authority listed 12 beginner, intermediate and advanced trails and four ski/sightseeing lifts in June 2025. Treat those as a dated official description: the open terrain and transport for a winter day still need confirmation from the resort.

 

This is the shortlist's strongest choice for travellers who want skiing inside a broader Xinjiang journey. The mountain setting and local food add character, while Urumqi provides the main airport and city base. Plan the road transfer in daylight where possible, carry the identification required by the current ticket process and do not leave marked terrain for an attractive ungroomed slope. If instruction in English is essential, arrange it before arrival rather than assuming availability at the rental desk.

Published opening months are only a broad climate window. Snowmaking, wind, visibility and lift maintenance determine the real day; verify the snow report and return transport shortly before departure.

 

 

10. Xiling Snow Mountain Ski Area, Sichuan

Xiling Snow Mountain is in Dayi County west of Chengdu. Do not confuse it with similarly named Snow World ski venues near Beijing; the two photographs below show Xiling's ski field and winter landscape.
 

The ski field sits high above the warmer Sichuan Basin. Its first-party overview describes a broad November-to-March snow-cover period, but skiing depends on that season's operating announcement, snowmaking and daily lift status.
 

Choose Xiling for a southwest winter add-on rather than for a claim that it is China's biggest or most advanced ski domain. Access usually involves a road transfer to the mountain, ticketed lifts or cableways and weather-sensitive mountain operations. First-time visitors should confirm whether the sightseeing zone and ski field use separate products, where rental equipment is collected, and which return connection reaches Chengdu. Fog, wet snow and wind can change visibility rapidly.
